Common materials for book printing include offset paper, coated paper, matte powder paper, double light paper, etc. These materials have their own characteristics and applicable scenarios.
Offset paper
Offset paper is mainly used for lithography (offset) printing presses, and is suitable for printing high-end color prints, such as color pictorials, picture albums, posters, color printed trademarks, and covers and illustrations of high-end books. Its characteristics include low elasticity, uniform ink absorption, good smoothness, tight and opaque texture, good whiteness and strong water resistance. The commonly used gram weight range is 50g to 180g/㎡, and the specifications are 889mm×1194mm.
Coated paper
Coated paper has a smooth surface, high whiteness, and good ink absorption and inking performance. It is often used for printing high-end picture albums, calendars, books and periodicals. Its characteristics include smooth and flat paper surface, high smoothness, and good glossiness, but it is easy to stick and fall off when exposed to moisture, and is not suitable for long-term storage. The commonly used gram weight range is 70g to 300g/㎡, and the specifications are 648mm×953mm, 787mm×970mm, and 787mm×1092mm.
Matt powder paper
The official name of matte powder paper is matte coated paper. It is usually thinner and whiter than coated paper, has stronger ink absorption, and is hard and not easy to deform. Although the printed patterns are not as colorful as coated paper, they are more delicate and high-end. The commonly used gram weight range is 70g to 250g/㎡, and the specifications are similar to coated paper.
Dual light paper
Dual light paper (light paper) does not contain fluorescent brighteners, has a soft color, and has a certain protective effect on eyesight. It has good texture and bulk, is foldable, has high opacity, and has good printing adaptability and original reproduction. This paper is lighter than ordinary offset paper, and the weight of printed books is reduced by about 30%, which is easy to carry and transport.
